International Swim Camp – Cyprus
During February half term the performance squad visited Cyprus for the week to train in a 50M pool, which is something we do every year for the Performance squads. For those of you that don't know we are now in the part of the season where Long Course racing starts which is in a 50M pool, so camp is usually seen as a good start to the long course training. International swim camps give the swimmers some idea of what it would be like to train on a professional camp. The itinerary for the week was swimming each morning from 7 till 9, followed by breakfast. Many the squad are taking exams this summer, so it was important to factor in some revision time for them each day which they all took part in. Lunch followed revision time and then the afternoon swimming session was 3 till 5pm, quickly followed by an hour's land training. Each evening after dinner there were team building activities. It was a very tiring week for everyone who attended however it was also great fun.
